doing those things I always meant to do

I have to say I feel quite accomplished after this weekend! It was full of doing things I have been putting off for a long time, or things that I would have regretted not doing if I hadn’t have done them. The typical “I can do it next week” and “I am just too busy!” has been pretty regular excuses up until this weekend.
Saturday started out with the Washington State Caucus and Myk and I went to the local elementary school to put in our votes. Neither of us had done it before, but felt that it was important to be standing up for who we want to run for president (go Obama!). It was quite an experience!
Then I got fed up for waiting for the rest of our incandescent bulbs to burn out, so I replaced every single bulb in our home with a CFL. I felt like a hypocrite for preaching greeness and here I was waiting for it to occur in my own home! Who knew that it would take 35 bulbs, but I feel so much better now. I can’t wait to see the savings in next month’s bill as I am sure it will make a big enough dent that it would be noticeable. I mean we had been practicing keeping the heat pretty low and not using lights when we aren’t in the room. Even having many evenings by candlelight, so I guess we were doing something. The bulbs do cast a new hue around the whole house, so we are getting used to that.

You probably saw my last post about upgrading my computer, and that was also something I had been meaning to do for quite a while. Although I had completely underestimated how long it would take to get my back to production speed for work (sorry to all those clients who had to wait an extra week!). A special thanks to Myk for spending so much time trying to fix the permissions the files on my new computer. Some kind of bug migrating from Tiger to Leopard (OSX) where all my files got locked up. There were many late nights trying to get this to work and this moment was caught on a break towards the end of the ordeal.
My mom and I also went to IKEA and here are some of my finds:

lamp for my office (yes there is a CFL in there!)

white table for guest room, the real reason I went

closet organizer for my t-shirts

pots for some plants for upcoming conference displays

lucky bamboo
I even got underneath our bed and retrieved all of the boxes we had been storing for my mom since before she moved to Seattle (August 2006) and there were so many pug bunnies rolling around under there. There are still a few more boxes in the garage, but most of them are out now. Next weekend… organize the garage! I am much more motivated to do so now.
Happy Monday Everyone!

Ikea is the mecca of all things fantastic! My mom and I also spent a couple hours there last weekend as well and I walked out with a ton of fun stuff.
I should really get a jump on the CFL thing too- thanks for reminding me!
