dinner at david’s

Steak, potato salad, rice, peppers, and strawberry shortcake

David and Eileen were nice enough to host a Saturday BBQ at their place. With a couple stops on the way that made us VERY late (so sorry guys), we finally arrived for a wonderful dinner filled with squeals of laughter as the kids chased our pugs around the house. Thank you again for such a great evening. More →

weekend gardening

spanish lavender

Besides stuffing our faces with hot of the grill meats and veggies, I also got a lot of my plants in pots and the ground. My mom and I had made a trip to Molbak’s the week before and I was a bit anxious to get all of them planted soon as the temperatures have been in the mid-seventies for most of the week. It actually came in two phases. The first was my pots which weren’t very bad. Then I had gotten plenty more perennials, so I had to get those in the ground. Skip past the next set of photos to get to our phase two project.

I did my best at saving the nametags and cataloging them below, but there are a couple I forgot. Anyone know what they are? More →

first grill of the season

Chris surprised us first thing on Saturday with bringing over some brauts, buns, macaroni salad and beer. I think it was all made locally from the looks of the packaging, but I can’t say for sure. Boy, was that a treat! Myk fired up the grill, the first time this year, and we watched the smoke and flames cook the brauts to perfection. Thank you so much Chris!

I don’t know if I need any more commentary on the rest of the photos. I think they speak for themselves. More →

I came across this photo with Myk, somewhere online. Maybe Wired.com or something. Regardless, it’s not something I put together, but it was a much needed happy highlight to our evening. I just can’t keep from smiling when I see this photo. It’s just… too awesome.

So that’s been my theme lately. I have definitely been in a “Dip” as defined by Seth Godin. That low point after you have all your ideas and you have been working on them for a while, but now you don’t know if you can pull it off and make it happen? It’s hard to get beyond that. Yes, there are days I feel like quitting. There are days where I tell myself that I should just get pregnant and have babies. That’s what I am supposed to do, right? More →

goodbye and hello

nicknamed “Tanjay” for the tan/gray interior by Kevin (and no, not tangay)

So we finally did it. We had been shopping online, test driving, and reading reviews for months. Normally, when I get a bee in my bonnet about buying a new car, I do it fairly quickly like within a month. But since we both had to be happy with this purchase, it took a while. And it was all worth it. More →
