Besides stuffing our faces with hot of the grill meats and veggies, I also got a lot of my plants in pots and the ground. My mom and I had made a trip to Molbak’s the week before and I was a bit anxious to get all of them planted soon as the temperatures have been in the mid-seventies for most of the week. It actually came in two phases. The first was my pots which weren’t very bad. Then I had gotten plenty more perennials, so I had to get those in the ground. Skip past the next set of photos to get to our phase two project.

I did my best at saving the nametags and cataloging them below, but there are a couple I forgot. Anyone know what they are?

So after I had planted most of the annuals and perennials myself, I asked my mom and Myk for some help with a crazy idea that popped into my head. We don’t have a fancy front yard, and we do have ideas on sculpturing it a bit by putting in a small retaining wall and killing all the grass on the sloped parts. All in the future, of course. For now, I needed to get about six extra grasses in that wouldn’t fit anywhere else. So we dug out a bed along our very rectangular walkway.

Mom found a bloming purple/blue columbine growing in my backyard that I moved up to the front and moved a lemon queen box honeysuckle up next to a small tyme plant I had. Still need to get a fresh layer of mulch all around, but at least all the planting is done!

We decided to light all the candles and Mom gave me some mini torches to line the walkway with tea lights. As the evening grew dark, we settled in for a roast dinner after a job well done.
